About Me

I am from Dayton, Ohio (Kettering specifically!) Our claim to fame would be Rob Dyrdeck - famous skater/MTV personality, and Lisa Cartwright - the voice of Bart Simpson.

I graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in 2005. While there, I was heavily involved in Color Guard, Dance, Show Choir, Swimming, Musicals, and Track. I did a lot because I loved being involved and learning new things.

I then attended Purdue University. I first majored in Sociology and Communications before I found my true calling as a teacher. My time at Purdue was spent in class, at the pool, or at dance practice.  I played four years for the Purdue Women's Water Polo team and I also participated as a dancer and leader for Higher Ground Dance Company.

Goal! - at practice!

In May of 2010, I graduated from Purdue University! This was a huge moment in my family history. I was the first person on both sides of my family to go to college and graduate! Family came from all over the U.S. to celebrate. This is one of the proudest moments in my life because I did it on my own. If you ever have questions about financial aid, please see me!

After graduation, I had my first interview at Bluffton High School and I was offered the English Language Arts position followed by another offer as the Varsity Girls Swim Coach. I was so excited! I quickly moved to Bluffton, Indiana while my college sweetheart stayed in Indianapolis for his new teaching job. In September of 2010, Ben proposed- I said yes and we were married in June 2011.

Ben is now teaching at Southern Wells High School and is the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach! We live in Bluffton with our lab Jake, our little girl Amelia, and our little boy, Harrison. Yes, all named after Purdue memories!

Along with all that background information, and pictures, you should probably know that I am all about creating things on my own! I love all things artsy and crafty. I love technology and creating new ways to teach and learn. I am not afraid of change, I embrace it as a chance to learn something new. Now that you know more about me, feel free to strike up a conversation- after class of course!
